Eight remixes better than the original
AWOLNATION: Sail (WhiteNoise Remix)
A song that gave me major chills before being reworked, the hit AWOLNATION track benefits greatly from a distorted beat giving it a bit of added oomph.
Plus the addition of Neil Armstrong’s famous “one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind” as a build up to the drop is absolute genius.
Benjamin Francis Leftwich: Atlas Hands (Thomas Jack Remix)
What was once a great melancholy indie tune is now an upbeat journey full of beautiful sounding strings and pipes. Close your eyes and put on your headphones, you won’t be disappointed.
The Colourist: Little Games (St. Lucia Remix)
The infectious electronic build up of this remix just doesn’t let up. Instead it carries you higher and higher and you can’t help but want to get up dance, or at the very least bob enthusiastically.
Daughter: Medicine (Sound Remedy Remix)
Another chill out tune this one, with wonderful lyrics that are only made even more anthem worthy by the beats laid out behind it. Let this be the medicine for your craving eardrums.
Gorillaz: 19-2000 (Soulchild Remix)
This one should give more than a few of you a little nostalgia. In my opinion, this is the only way to listen to the classic hit by Gorillaz and it still remains one of my favourite feel-good songs of all time.
Justice: Phantom pt. II (Boys Noize Remix)
Something a little dirtier now. Layers and layers of great sounds build up and make you want to find a grimy club somewhere and jump up and down like a nutter.
For my final two recommendations I’ve decided to give some of the limelight to my fellow Spotlight crewmembers, take it away guys…

Michael Brun x Roy English: Tongue Tied July (Cathleen Cher Remix)
With Tongue Tied July, the original already gave me ultimate feels. With the mellow beat it really did give me those Owl City vibes. However, later on when I came across the remixed version by Cathleen Cher, it literally blew me away. It encompasses all the best parts of the song and takes you on a journey, from calm to upbeat. To sum it up...it made me cry. Tongue Tied July Michael Brun x Roy English (Cathleen Cher Remix) is by far my favourite remix ever.

Bjork: Sacrifice (Death Grips Remix)
What was originally a fairly static song is brought to life thanks to the contributions of Hill and Morin. Samples from hyper aggressive Death Grips tracks such as Full Moon and System Blower contrast Bjork’s more subdued vocals. The result is an exotic piece cyber noise-pop that is as cacophonous as it is captivating.
It's not often that a remix completely blows the original out of the water, we think we've found a few of those special tunes just for you...
