Evolution Emerging 2017: all you need to know!
Currently in its ninth year, Evolution Emerging is the North East’s go-to event for new music, presenting over 40 exciting up and coming artists each year.
With a strong focus on local and regional bands and artists, Evo is becoming a star “generator” (get it?) and has boasted the likes of Lake Poets, Cattle and Cane and a whole bunch of others among its ranks.
Clearly festivals such as this are a vital part of artists getting the recognition that they deserve, with many going on to be featured on the likes of BBC introducing.
Moreover, the line-up of the festival has consistently showcased some of the best talent in our vibrant region, last year hosting the likes of Plaza, A Festival A Parade, SoShe and many more.
And now the time has come to begin preparations for another, no doubt successful, year ahead.
Generator, the agency behind the festival, is once again looking for applications from emerging artists of all kinds as it gears up to storm Ouseburn Valley on Saturday the 27th of May.
Those applicants who are selected to perform will receive support through an artist development masterclass taking place in April. Provided by Generator, this will include presentations and discussions with guests within the industry as well as media opportunities.
Final deadline for submissions is 11:59pm on the 3rd of February which will be followed by scrutiny from a panel of experts who will shortlist their favorites.
Successful applicants will be informed in February, and Generator will announce the full Evolution Emerging line-up in March.
We’ll be sure to keep you updated as more information comes in, but in the meantime why not check out our article on some of the highlights from last year’s line-up.
