Having recently announced an indefinite hiatus following their current tour, VANT are guaranteed not to go quietly. Joining the band’s send-off party at Northumbria Uni’s Reds will be our favorite Teesside dream-pop wonders Llovers and North Yorkshire’s notoriously wild rockers Avalanche Party who are both worth seeing in their own rights. It goes without saying that this one is not to be missed!

Bringing with them some stunning vocals and guitar melodies to make your heart leap with joy are London’s dream-rockers Island. Having just announced their upcoming debut album for release in April 2018 this will be the band's second visit to Newcastle, after previously wowing the toon with their captivating live performance as support for Clean Cut Kid at the Riverside. And with the dreamy London band Leif Erikson also making an appearance, it’s gonna be a truly magical night of live music.

Featuring another diverse lineup of emerging local and national artists, Little Buildings will play host to Leeds based indie groove-pop band Citrus Heights. Playing alongside them are local bands The 901s, Primitive Painters and Great Waves who will have us bouncing to a variety of indie and psychedelic rock. Expect a great night of live music in an intimate setting that is sure to make you forget your midweek blues.

Come and join the Spotlight team when we host the first showcase of some of our favorite up and coming artists from the region. Bound to start the night on a high with their raucous indie sound are Susan who have recently pulled off their very own headline show at the O2 Academy2. Joining this special lineup at the intimate Little Buildings are Newcastle’s electro-pop trio Shamu who are set to impress with their complex synth melodies and melancholy lyrics. Last but not least are melodic alt-rockers Great Curve who will make this gig truly special.
What's more, this is of course a great opportunity to come and say hello to the Spotlight team, we can't wait to meet you!

Indie-pop-punk duo Gurr take their inspiration from 90s Brit Pop and blend it with their female garage sound to create music that is infectiously fun and upbeat. Their debut album 'In my head' has done incredibly well in Germany, but they have not remained unnoticed outside their motherland thanks to their witty and relatable lyrics. Having already played several shows in the UK this year, including Newcastle’s Hit the North earlier this year, we can’t wait to have Gurr back. Support comes from Durham’s garage pop band Pale Kids who are sure to set the night off to a great start.

With their wacky lyrics and catchy electro hip-pop vibes Bad Sounds are anything but their namesake!
Having recently released their new EP 'Mixtape One' the Bath five piece are sure to have the whole of Think Tank shaking their hips to those infectious grooves whilst singing along to some of our favourites like 'Wages and Avalanche'. It’s going to be a one hell of a night, especially with the equally upbeat support coming from London based singer Kyko.

With her unique voice and heartfelt songwriting Brooke has been captivating audiences far and wide. Hailing from South Shields, Brooke has had a fantastic year with her songs being played on Radio 1 and being selected to play the BBC Introducing stage at this years Reading & Leeds Festival. Mint make a welcome return to Newcastle with their catchy indie pop sounds and a no doubt electrifying live show as part of their current headline tour. The four piece band from Grimsby have made a name for themselves over the last 2 years by writing indie anthems that are impossible to get of your head even after the first listen, as well as their captivating personalities. And to top it off, support comes from two of the lushest indie bands around: Deep.Sleep and St Buryan. Get yourself along and discover a new favourite band of yours, or two or three.

Blaenavon have gone from strength to strength this year. First as part of their support performances for Sundara Karma’s headline tour and swiftly followed by their first headline tour to coincide with the release of their debut album 'That’s Your Lot', all of which have left lasting impressions on music lovers everywhere. With those hauntingly beautiful vocals, dark lyrics and captivating melodies it’s easy to see why, yet it’s their high energy live show that elevates the trio to a whole other level. And with support from Indie-rock band Night Café and singer-songwriter Jade Bird it’s no surprise this show is in our top 10 picks this month.
