EP Review: Amy May Ellis' ‘Weathered by Waves'

With 2017 drawing to a close, it seems only fair to turn our attention to some of the the stand out talent to look out for in 2018, and give our recommendations for which artists are likely to make an impact in the coming year year.
With so many up and coming musicians making their mark on the independent scene as of late, there were plenty to choose from, however none of them quite stood out like Folk singer / songwriter Amy May Ellis.

Hailing from York but now residing in London, Amy has had a very busy 2017 which saw her release her debut EP ‘Weathered by Waves’.
The EP comprises of 6 songs and was recorded with producer Isaac McInnis, drummer Callum Taylor, double bass player Bradley Blackwell and guitarist Joel Whitaker at the Crooked Room Studio on the outskirts of York.
A well-crafted and enjoyable masterpiece, the EP opens with track 'Daisy Chains'; a perfect introduction with its sweet intro, effortless vocals and beautiful lyrics.
This theme is continuous throughout the EP, with each track somehow managing to eclipse its predecessor, a clear indicator of Amy’s song writing talent and ability to paint a somewhat beautiful picture.
