Canny Fringe Festival: March 3rd-5th & March 10th-12th
After a hugely successful debut last year, the Canny Fringe fest is returning to Northumbria Uni Student’s Union in March for two weekends, showcasing fantastic exhibitions of North East culture.
The brainchild of societies from Durham, Newcastle and Northumbria university, this year’s programme will serve up an offering of live music on the 3rd, 4th and 5th of March while drama performances will take place from the 10th to the 12th of March. As if that wasn't already enough to keep you entertained, comedy, dance, art and photography exhibitions will also be taking place over both weekends.
With a staggering total of 3 stages and over 60 artists, all located inside Northumbria Students’ Union, the event will feature performances from both established and emerging talent across a wide range of genres.
“The Canny Fringe has great potential both at present and in the future” said Jay Landman, GigSoc President and Festival Co-Founder, “Many students know virtually every club in Newcastle, however, less so about all the fantastic live music available in and around the city from established and emerging artists alike”.
“The Canny Fringe is a brilliant way of not only putting on an amazing festival for the arts, which are increasingly under threat from government cuts, but of also aiding the community; organisations and charities such as Oxfam, the Green Festival and Safe Gigs for Women have been invited to attend”.
Featuring Alternative/Indie, Rock/Metal and Acoustic/Folk Stages, attendees will be able to enjoy a huge amount of variety from more than 60 performers.
Here are two of the many artists performing at the festival which we think showcase the broad range and excellent quality of the talent involved…
Tickets for the festival are priced at £5 for a day ticket, or £8 for a weekend one, and are available here: https://www.mynsu.co.uk/getinvolved/society/gigsoc/
