Single Review: Heart-tugging “Within These Bones” by Iron Islands

Prepare to go on a heartbreaking journey when you hear Iron Islands’ new single “Within These Bones”.

The London based trio released the new track last Friday 5th May and it was written by lead singer Martin Andrew after the loss of his dad.

Right from the start the sombre lyrics and melodic riffs evoke agonising days and nights spent worrying and caring for a loved one, with Andrew’s crystal clear voice delivering each heartfelt word.

The song then builds in pace, making use of soothing piano melodies, subtle drum beats and deep bass before peaking into a beautiful piano and guitar instrumental allowing you to fully immerse yourselves in the emotions it kindles.

The final verse of the song reflects on the struggle of dealing with such a tragic loss, but also being inspired by the loved ones lost: “When I grow up if I become half the man we’d all be in safe hands”.

“Within These Bones” is a harrowingly beautiful song that will have you contemplating its depth for days to come.

And in case you needed another incentive, the band have also decided that all the money made from downloads in May are going to be donated to British Heart Foundation

Find the track on Soundcloud where it’s also available to download.
