Artist Profile: Static Blue
The story of Newcastle indie-rock band Static Blue is by no means a straightforward one. Initially made up of Callum Casey, Louis Clark and a number of ever-changing drummers, Amy Cozier soon joined as 2nd bass player. And with her brother Oliver not wanting to miss out on the fun he promptly taught himself to play drums via an app on his IPhone so he could join the band as well.
However, shortly after starting to making a name for themselves Oliver and Louis left to join Susan, another of the North Easts emerging bands.
After once again struggling to find a new permanent drummer Oliver eventually returned to Static Blue, and with Sam Frame coming on board the final line-up is finally complete as it stands today.
The band has seen some great high points in 2017, including playing alongside Mink and Mayfare at the Surf Café in Tynemouth in April as well as their own headline show at Ousburn’s Little Buildings to celebrate the release of their double single Rabbit Hole/Tarra.
What's more, according to the band there are big things ahead for them in 2018 as they have been involved with a management company in London and producers in Liverpool.
The rest is still hush-hush but we're very excited to fond out more!
Track Pick: Rabbit Hole
Released as part of their double single in September last year, Rabbit Hole blends modern guitar-driven dream-pop melodies and adds a hint of groovy 80’s sparkle.
With its enigmatic lyrics and vocals that are ever rising throughout, it’s an absolutely fantastic tune!
Static Blue will be playing alongside Roxy Girls and Mayfare on the 1st of Febuary 2018, click here for more info.
