Single Review: Null 'N' Void's 'NNV'

Null 'N' Void are a three-piece alternative/grunge rock band from Newcastle. They’ve been together only a matter of months but have already released their self-titled debut single.

The song starts and finishes with a repeating and strong bass guitar line that all other instruments, including vocals, anchor to as they go off on their individual tangents.
Instrumentally, there’re all the right ingredients here for a solid, likeable, heavy rock track that will fit snugly into anyone’s “rock playlist”.

The lead singer has a voice made for rock music and he belts out the lyrics with gusto. The only thing that I wasn’t a fan of in this song was the occasional “screamo” vocal. This isn’t a thrash-metal song so there’s no need for it and it’s pointedly out of place when it happens here.

Electric guitar enthusiasts will salivate over this track and there’s so much to appreciate from start to finish with multiple types and samples of guitar adding to the overall doom-rock effect.

For a debut single it’s a great effort. If the band have similar songs I can imagine their live set is a crowd-pleaser pretty much anywhere they go.

Null ‘N’ Void is available now to download from bandcamp or via facebook.
