Single Review: Static Blue's 'Babbling Corpses '

March 30th graced us with a very special surprise release from post-indie band Static Blue, in the form of a cracking new single: 'Babbling Corpses'.

This unique yet retro song is a clear salute to the best of 80’s music. It’s not just that it has an 80’s ‘feel’ to it, it genuinely could’ve been released back then and fitted right into the Top Ten releases of the era.
Electronic drum beats and cymbals, synths, voice echoes are mixed in a perfect balance, and all meld together to transport the listener back in time instantly.
The lyrics are delivered in a nostalgic lament by Callum, almost as if they’re written by a time traveller obliquely looking forward to current people’s tastes and culture and wishing for simpler times - “Whatever happened to those VHS dreams, beaming to wandering eyes from analogue TV screens.”

Overall, this song is superbly created, put together, and delivered.
You’ll find yourself singing along with ease to the catchy chorus and maybe searching your wardrobes for dungarees or asking your hairdresser for a daring retro hairdo.
