Single Review: St. Buryan's 'Shout'
For a band that announced a short hiatus earlier this year, St. Buryan have been anything but quiet. Despite their bassist currently residing in Italy, the band have been lined-up for an impressive three emerging music festivals already, including the upcoming Meet The North in early May, as well as a handful of other “stripped back” gigs.
Whilst this has certainly kept our interests peaked, the release of a brand new single 'Shout' on 6th April confirms again that these passionate lads are not easily kept away from the North East music scene.
As their 4th track released in just under a year, St. Buryan have been keen to show us the diverse spectrum of their ever evolving indie sound - ranging from the fast-paced pop banger 'Lucid' to infectiously melodic love song 'Forget To Love'.
However in stark contrast to the title of this latest release, 'Shout' tantalises with an intro of gentle melodic guitars and soothing drum rhythms as lead singer Ben’s striking vocals take the forefront amidst shimmering harmonies.
But the chorus is where this song really elevates itself. With each turn the vocals rise further until they reach soaring heights and are joined by increasingly rockier riffs and beats to give this smooth ballad a really uplifting energy.
Shout is a mightily invigorating indie-pop song that grows and grows with each listen and I guarantee it will have you singing along to it’s rousing chorus at the top of your lungs.
The song is released now on all major music streaming sites.
You can catch St. Buryan live at the upcoming Third Time Lucky Festival as well as this year's, Meet the North and Evo Emerging festivals this summer.
