Evolution Emerging Artist Profiles: Deep.Sleep

Join us as we journey inside the minds of some of Evolution Emerging Festival’s most promising up and coming artists!

Next up are indie darlings Deep.Sleep who have been constantly wowing us from their inception.
Their live performances have earned a reputation for providing an experience that is second to none in terms of unforgettable good vibes and you’ll be very quick to see why.

How would you describe your sound to someone to convince them to check you out at the festival?
We are an alternative indie pop band that aims to encapsulate all the nostalgia of youth, romance and formative life experience. We make music for people who don’t take themselves too seriously and strive for a break from the everyday mundane.

What are your thoughts on Evo Emerging?
Evolution Emerging is a cornerstone for local emerging music, from being a former patron of the festival right the way through to getting to play the festival, it does not get any bigger than this. It never fails to feel like playing your best show on your home turf.

How important do you think grassroots events such as this are for emerging artists?
Evo has felt like such a life goal for each of us since we took our first steps learning instruments and being in different bands, to then forming the current incarnation of Deep.Sleep; It gives local artists a platform that was never available before. It is such a strong show to have on any local band’s track record and the festival is always a blast to play.

Which artists are you excited to catch at the festival?
There are so many that we each want to see. We’ve got a lot of friends playing, so we’re hoping to catch some of them like St. Buryan, Mayfare, Sleeptape, Holly Rees, Sauvage, The Yada Yada Yadas, Dansi, Casual Threats, Good Friend, Mouses and many more! Basically, we’d recommend getting down early and seeing as many people as possible.

Do you have any tips for other up and coming artists who are starting out?
Go to gigs to watch other artists as the North East has so many incredible musicians at the moment. Everyone knows each other and there’s a really community here, so you can see artists, speak to people, ask for advice and get really involved in the scene.

Do you have any developments you're working on that you want to give a shout out to?
We’ve been recording, mixing and mastering a single so that will be ready for release very soon. It’s a proper summer-vibes song so it’ll be amazing to have that out ready for the holidays.

Deep.Sleep will be playing at the Backyard Bike Shop on the 9th of June for Evo Emerging.
