Single Review: Swine Tax's 'Tory Water'

Single Review: Swine Tax's 'Tory Water'

With a title like ‘Tory Water’ it doesn’t take a genius to figure out this is a stab at those in power. It’s not just that though, it’s a commentary on how we’re treated as a society in general. It unapologetically mocks what’s wrong with the crap we’ve been fed by organisations that attempt to control us.

I saw Swine Tax play this song live recently in a set that had more energy than the national grid. They played in a line-up of local and international punk legends, and they fit right in. The band harken back to when punk first started and capture that rebellious spirit perfectly, whilst delivering songs that you can lose yourself to.

For this song it seems the band have used almost every possible trick in the studio and piled it into less than three minutes. There’s numerous vocal echoes, keyboards, other electronic noises and guitars overlaying;all underpinned by a really strong bass guitar.
For those of us who love to break from the mainstream regimented music constantly churned out, I guarantee this will become your new favourite song.

Tory Water is available to buy on Bandcamp and stream on Spotify
