Celebrating the release of her debut album 'Red' with a UK wide headline tour, where better for Hannah Trigwell to delight North East music lovers than at the intimate Surf Café in Tynemouth. Having gone from busking in the streets of Leeds, to millions of views on YouTube and touring the world, her talent is undoubtedly going to take her even further in no time at all. Expect emotional ballads, upbeat pop tunes and some great loop pedal action too. Support comes from one of our favourite local singer-songwriters; Holly Rees.
An unmissable girl-power packed show.

7th Sept - Picnic / Great Waves / Ormstons

Funky fun-filled folk-pop you just have to dance to, 7 piece band Picnic from Sunderland always bring an upbeat and captivating atmosphere to their live shows that we just can’t get enough of. With grooving melodies and witty lyrics that hook instantly this headline show is sure to give the crowd a night of fabulous frolics. Joining the lineup to make the party even bigger are fabulous feel-good indie band Great Waves and Leeds based indie-rockers Ormstons. Rumour has it there will be cake too...how could anyone resist such a treat!

Riveting Newcastle rockers FEVA present their biggest headline show yet. Top of our list of top notch North East bands, these lads have been producing tune after tune packed with fierce melodies, hooking riffs and powerful vocals dishing out darkly-tinged lyrics. And with a high-voltage live show to match, this gig is sure to get your pulse racing and body bouncing. Equally exciting are the two superb supports lined up for this show: unstoppable Newcastle rockers Sleeptape and the fantastic Swindon indie outfit Yves.

With the recent release of their EP 'Exhibition' as well as signing to Sunbird Records, Scottish band Donnie Willow have been storming the emerging music scene with their attention-grabbing live performances and fresh sounding heavy rock, making this one of our unmissable shows of the month. Firing things up early doors are instrumental post-rock band A Burial At Sea from Liverpool, intensely soaring alt-rock trio Duchess from Gateshead and North East alt-rock duo Winter Band. It’s gonna get loud and we love it!

With an indie pop sound that is both beautifully rousing and excitingly buoyant Only The Poets from London/Reading have quickly been growing a strong fan base across the UK. Heading out on their headline tour after wowing festival crowds across the summer (including the mighty Reading and Leeds festival) we are excited to see the four lads unleash their immersive energy on the stage of Newcastle’s Riverside. Adding to the alluring indie vibe of the night are three incredible local bands: St Buryan, Mayfare and Honey Bee – absolutely worth getting down early for!

15th Sept - Sleeptape / Foxhaunt / Ten Eighty Trees

Quickly establishing a name for themselves on the local music scene and beyond for their colossal alt rock sound, with roaring riffs and striking vocals, Sleeptape are a band that seriously impress on a live stage. Exuding an intense energy that is hard to contain, the four-piece are bound to set the whole of Surf Café into a rock-out frenzy during this latest headline show. Ensuring that the volume is kept to the max are equally exuberant rockers Ten Eighty Trees and Foxhaunt in support.

21 Sept - RNS Rocks: Maxïmo Park / Field Music

Three of the North East’s most exciting musical exports are set to perform their own music accompanied and arranged by the Royal Northern Sinfonia in celebration of the orchestra’s 60th birthday. Heading up the night are the ever-changing indie-pop marvels Maxïmo Park - a band that has made an art of delicately layering its earnest and outspoken lyrics over hooking melodies whilst delivering one of the most exhilarating live shows out there thanks to buoyant front man Paul Smith. But that’s not all as the fantastic Field Music are giving fans another chance to hear their recent album 'Open Here' with expanded orchestration following on from their shows at the Northern Stage and Barbican in London earlier in the year.

23rd Sept - MUSH / Mouses / Roxy Girls

Experimental heavy rockers Mush are itching to break out of their home county of Yorkshire and deservedly so. With influences like Velvet Underground and the Pixies this four-piece from Leeds will bring their whirling slacker-rock to the cozy Cumberland Arms alongside two of the region's finest under-the-radar talent: wild punk-rock duo Mouses and impressive “blink and you missed it” alt-rockers Roxy Girls.

26th Sept - Palma Louca + more TBC

Melodic guitar-driven soundscapes and haunting vocals are what make Palma Louca stand out from the flock of newly emerging Indie bands on the scene right now. Having honed their skills by steadfast gigging in recent months the Newcastle band are now due to release their second single 'Free Float' . And what better way to celebrate than with a massive headline show at Newcastle’s Head Of Steam. Supports are yet to be confirmed but, with indie-rock loving promo team Songbird organising this event, we think it will most certainly be worth arriving early doors.

Going from strength to strength, singer-songwriter Anthony Vacher is celebrating a successful 2018 by playing his biggest headline show yet at the mighty O2 Academy Newcastle. Having recently completed his first UK headline tour, the multi-talented performer is steadily carving his way up thanks to his charming vocals and songs full of dreamy pop sensibilities. As well as bringing his band the Silhouettes, Anthony has also lined up an impressive list of talented support acts including indie-outfit The Escapades, moody rockers Laulia as well as two striking female artists: Liv Byrom and HATi.

Well-established London-based promo team Modern Age Music are expanding their horizons up north with their first show in Newcastle. Aiming to bring the best new bands to the masses, there is no doubt that this debut outing is packing a zesty punch. Featuring London rockers Dirty Oranges they are described as in-your-face yet with a sound that is made to dance along to. With more acts still to be announced we think this is a top opportunity to catch some of the freshest out-of-town talent before anyone else.
