Preview: Josh Hodgson Full Band Headliner (April 5th)
Acoustic artist Josh Hodgson has been making the rounds in Sunderland, South Shields and Newcastle, spreading the good word in the form of emotive original tracks and masterful delivery.
But it was 2018 that saw his most significant rise in popularity though, with gigs at the likes of Tyne Bank Brewery, Head of Steam, Little Buildings and countless other venues across the region.
And this year looks set to raise the bar even higher, with Josh's first headline gig on the cards for April 5th at Port of Call in Sunderland.
This will be the artist's chance to spread his wings and showcase their original tracks with a full band in a whole new light, bringing together elements of rock, jazz and funk!
In light of this announcement, we thought we'd catch up with him and find out a little more about what to expect from this talented young lad…
How do you feel about hosting your first big all original gig?
”It's been a long time coming. I'm going to establish myself as a serious original artist no matter what.”
What can we expect from the support acts and what made you approach each of them?
“Kewen is a great talent from Northumberland with a solid musical knowledge background - which I love.
FLAIR are going to enchant the place with Marrianne's voice and Olivia's harmonies.
Brass In Pocket will be the surprise of the evening as they're a recently formed group, but Emma Stiles' voice is a sure winner.
When choosing the acts, I put the ball in their court saying I was looking for support acts (on Facebook), and the fact that they messaged me saying they WANTED to support me was a privilege.”
What are your plans and hopes for this year music wise?
”The local festival scene is just there waiting. I'll also get a marketing campaign set up and carry on composing and arranging for other things.”
What has the response been like so far for this upcoming gig?
“Advertising hasn't stopped for one second. Friends and family have already booked online (and so can you now on my SeeTickets link but we're expecting a big turnout on the door too!”
