5th April
SLEEPTAPE / Mayfare / Baltic @ Cobalt Studios Newcastle

Genre: Indie / Rock

Newcastle melodic heavy rockers Sleeptape are getting ready for their biggest hometown show to date. Equipped with epic riffs, hooking choruses and spine-tingling vocals, these guys know how to deliver an action packed show full of energy and bounce. And with their latest single ‘Midnight’ just released, there is even more reason to head on down and join in some wild antics. Adding even more rock-steady tunes on the night are the dazzling indie-surf rockers Mayfare and sky-rocketing indie 4-piece Baltic.

Newcastle heavy-rockers ThreadBear celebrate the release of their debut album ‘Fine By Me’ with this show and have invited their friends/favorite bands to join them for a night of epically loud live music including Kkett, Dutch Elm, Twiceborn and Mind Set: Low

6th April
Dylan Cartlidge / Listaa @ Independent Sunderland

Genre: Hip-Hop / Alternative

Having just returned from playing SXSW Festival in America, Teesside’s Dylan Cartlidge is now embarking on his biggest UK tour to date. The alternative hip-hop artist has received great acclaim in recent months for his groove-filled take on hip-hop vibes that dazzle with a genuine warmth and light-heartedness. With a Newcastle show scheduled for the 5th April, this Sunderland show gives you an additional chance to catch this incredible musician in the North East. Support comes from North East hip hop/rap/grime artist Listaa.

12th April
Bloxx / On Video / Venus @ Westgarth SC Middlesbrough

Genre : Indie / Rock
Cost: £8
Independent music promoters The Kids Are Sold Gold have landed another incredible coup with this show, bringing the incredible Uxbridge indie-rock outfit Bloxx to the Westgarth in Middlesbrough. Their infectious pop-choruses delivered with a fiery hard-rock attitude have quickly seen this band grow a following of eager fans as well as backing from the likes of BBC Radio 1. Also on the line-up are Leeds based all-female heavy-rock band Venus, who delivered an incredible set when they supported Estrons earlier in the year, as well as On Video. An absolute winner of a show to get on board with!
And if you can’t make it to Middlesbrough, Bloxx are also scheduled to play Newcastle on 15th April.

Charming local singer-songwriter Kewen celebrates the release of his second EP, 'A Little Bit Of Magic' with this special show where he is joined by three highly talented female artists: Amy Hopkinson, l Beth Robinson and Annie Griffiths.

Foreignfox / Cohesion / Ghost Signals / James Prior Jnr @ Independent Sunderland

Genre: Alt-Rock / Singer-songwriter

Sensational Scottish alt-rock outfit Foreignfox make an eagerly awaited return with their emotive and cinematic sound that has already impressed fans far and wide, be it either supporting the likes of British Seapower or delivering their intense live show at festivals like T in the Park and Kendal Calling. With their powerful new single ‘Birthday Flowers’ just released, we expect this run of UK headline shows to be their best yet. Local support comes from our favourite goth-pop darlings Ghost//Signals, the always breath-taking alt-rockers Cohesion and Seaham-based singer songwriter James Prior Jnr. A night of live music to thoroughly wake up all your senses.

14th April
Indoor Pets / Animal House / The Tracies @ Think Tank? Newcastle

Outrageously fun and high-energy indie kids Indoor Pets from Kent are hitting the road for their biggest UK tour to date in celebration of their brilliant debut album ‘Be Content’. With their quirky attitude and humorous outlooks perfectly portrayed in their “dirty-pop” songs, the band are bound to deliver a live show equally as bonkers and super-charged. Expect to be captivated by their unique charm and catchy tunes while you throw yourself around a little bit silly to songs like ‘Pro-Procrastinator’, ‘Being Strange’ and ‘Teriyaki’. On support for this fantastically crazy night are Garage Rock outfit Animal House from Brisbane, Australia and Sunderland 4 piece indie rock band The Tracies.

16th April
Anteros / Redfaces @ The Cluny Newcastle

Genre: Indie / Pop

Years of relentless touring, and releasing countless un-apologetically dazzling pop tunes, have finally lead to this moment…Anteros’ biggest UK tour celebrating the release of the bands incredible debut album ‘When We Land’. And what an incredible album it is.
Every track is a ready-made anthem, from the classics like ‘Breakfast’ and ‘Drunk’ to superb new tunes like ‘Drive On’ and ‘Call Your Mother’. While the band’s ability to write sing-along inducing tunes is impressive, their delivery is equally strong with their incredible live show that (thanks to front women Lauren) always deliver a message of self-belief and feeling of belonging no matter who you are. If you don’t believe us, you better come and see for yourself. Support comes from the fantastic indie-rockers Red Faces.

20th April
Stockton Calling @ Various Venues Stockton

Celebrating its 10th Anniversary, this year’s Stockton Calling promises to be the biggest and best yet, offering another incredible mix of big band acts perfectly balanced with the best up and coming talent the region and the rest of the UK has to offer. Across 9 stages punters will be able to witness legendary headliners like The Futureheads, Reverend and the Makers and British Seapower alongside unmissable up-and-comers like The Orielles, Avalanche Party, Bang Bang Romeo, Red Rum Club, Lucia, Zuzu and WhenYoung. But of course it’s the local talent represented that makes this festival so special including FEVA, Para Alta, Plaza, The Yada Yada Yadas, Twist Helix and many, many more. Topped off with an atmosphere that is hard to beat, Stockton Calling has truly earned its spot as one of my most anticipated days of the year for us!

Ten Eighty Trees / Dunes @ Think Tank Underground Newcastle 
The unstoppable force that is Ten Eighty Trees present their biggest headline show to date. With toppling vocal highs and stadium-ready rock choruses, this Newcastle trio are not to be missed. Support comes from alt-rockers Dune.

24th April
Arcades / Mr Comfortable / Lux Lisbon @ Tyne Bank Brewery Newcastle

Genre: Indie / Rock
Cost: FREE
Another incredible free-for-all live music event hosted by local promoters Pillar Artists at the welcoming Tyne Bank Brewery, this time headed up by Leicester based indie outfit Arcades. Blending powerful rock ‘n’ roll anthems with an engrossing stage presence, these guys will make a fantastic hump-day treat. Also on the line-up, and making this show even more inviting, are Newcastle psychedelic rockers Mr Comfortable and a special acoustic set by indie-rock band Lux Lisbon. So grab yourself one of the Brewery’s fantastic ales and settle down for a superb night of live music.

26th April
Graces / Cohesion / Great Waves @ Surf Cafe Tynemouth

Promoters Violet Gang in association with Surfcafe Tynemouth present this intimate rock show headed up by Sheffield band Graces. Combining ambient soundscapes with distorted guitars and recognisable pop sensibilities the band return to Newcastle once again, this time as part of their headline tour just in time for the release of their new single ‘I Wanna Live For Free’ this month. Joining them for this intimate show are two equally spellbinding guitar-driven North East acts: Cohesion and Great Waves 

27th April
St. Buryan / Club Paradise / Kahuna @ Think Tank Newcastle

Genre: Indie / Pop / Ska

As if it’s been a year since St Buryan last played a headline show in Newcastle! The feel-good indie-pop band have not been resting on their laurels however, instead working hard playing shows across the UK and releasing new music such as their last shimmering pop banger ‘Giving In’.
With their upbeat grooves and powerful vocal deliverance, the sunshine vibes are guaranteed for this huge show. And who better to join them in creating the glorious summery vibe than funk-pop outfit Club Paradise and the party-starting ska-pop-punksters Kahuna.

Spotlight Presents: Something Funky ft. Goodsprings / Pony-land / Lovejoy @ Think Tank Newcastle

Genre: Funk / Jazz / Ska / Punk / Rock

Because you can never have enough funk in your life, for our next Spotlight Presents gig we are going to get extra funky! After our successful shows in 2018 the team return with a line up sure to get you grooving and shaking. Opening the night are infectious rock ‘n’ rollers Lovejoy before crazy afro-beat outfit Ponyland bring their eclectic mix of jazz, reggae and drum to blow all our minds into tomorrow. Heading up this special show are Goodsprings with their fun filled ska-punk mayhem that is guaranteed to get the crowd joining right in for a sweaty bounce-along. It’s a real celebration of our versatile music scene so we hope to see as many of you down to make it another unforgettable night!
