Northern Electric Festival 2019 @ Ouseburn Velley - Newcastle

The Northern Electric Festival 2019 returns to the Ouseburn for its 2 day celebration of electronica influenced artists from the north east.
Now in its fourth year, the event takes place across the culture valley’s many stunning venues such as The Cluny, Star and Shadow Cinema, Cobalt Studios, The Cumberland Arms and Blank Studios. The Friday will feature acts like Mariam Rezaei, Me Lost Me, Mausoleum and Spell Token, while Saturday will offer the chance to catch acts like Badger, The Fishery Commission , Worry Party, NRTHGØDS feat. Sågaboi & Kay Greyson, Grey Tapes, Cauls, Behold A Pale Horse and many more. Expect a whole range of sounds and genres guaranteed to offer something for all tastes!

Mousetival ‘19 @ Georgian Theatre Stockton

Teesside’s punk treasures Mouses return for a third year with their self-curated festival “Mousetival” after phenomenal responses to previous years events. With a hand selected line-up and an atmosphere like no other, this indoor one-day event should be obligatory in any adventurous and open minded music lover's calendar. Kicking off in the afternoon at the stunning Georgina Theatre in Stockton, the bill includes (alongside the ruddy marvellous Mouses themselves) outrageously wicked acts such as Yorkshire post-punk pop party pack Crumbs, Leeds' fierce guitar-wielding art-rockers Dead Naked Hippies, Sheffield noise-pop trio Duck, endless optimists Charmpit, pop-garage-punk 3 piece Nervous Twitch from Leeds and jazzpunk outfit Unstoppable Sweeties Show. Plus a whole host of the north east's finest racket-creators such as goth-pop marvels Ghost//Signals, radge-pop Ggallan Partidge and folk-pop heroes Eddie and the Valkyries!

Hardwick Live 2019 @ Hardwick Hall - Sedgefield

The 2 day festival at Hardwick Hall in Sedgefield returns to bring a star studded line-up of acts to the north east alongside an extensive list of unmissable up and coming acts. Saturday will welcome legendary rockers Manic Street Preachers, while on Sunday the mighty James are set to headline. Also on the line-up for Saturday are the The Zutons, Stiff Little Fingers and Sister Sledge as well as the likes of The Lake Poets, Feva, The Joy Formidable, Sports Team, Zuzu and Bloxx. Adding to the superb Sunday line-up are Lisa Stansfield, Ziggy Marley, Billy Bragg and Tim Burgess as well as Cattle & Cane, Lancashire Hot Pots, Only the Poets and many, many more! A free bank-holiday bonanza of live music, DJs and street food awaits as part of Isle of Tyne 2019 , set to take place under the Tyne Bar's glorious arch. Music comes courtesy of krautophonic blizzard-wave duo Warm Digits, afrobeat and giddy disco creators Paddy Steer, sublime beatmaker collective Grey Tapes, girl-gang riot pop outfit GGAllan Partridge PLUS the world's premier female-fronted Hives tribute band The B Hives! Kicking off at 6PM to create a fantastic party atmosphere right on the banks of the Tyne – what’s not to love!

The stunning music, magic and mayhem festival set on the spectacular Northumberland coast returns for its 5th Anniversary. This adults-only event (but importantly, dogs are allowed) creates a vibrant atmosphere that welcomes all young at heart with its offering of live music, comedy, well-being courses, fire-shows, street food, late night DJ’s and much more than you can ever imagine. Artist networking platform Off Axis Newcastle joins forces with Pillar Artists to present this superb summer showstopper. A more then welcome return of the magnificent synth-pop wizards Vuromantics as headline act is absolutely worth the entry fee alone as this bunch of funny chaps are experts at creating an exhilarating blend of retro influences with their modern grooves and sounds. Consisting of two brothers and their trusty comrade, known affectionately as "The Vu", this lot will have you dancing and joining in at every chance possible for an unforgettable show. But be sure to be down early doors to catch Newcastle rockers Crux with their dose of massive riffs, classical piano, slap bass and political rhetoric plus a soulful performance from singer songwriter Georgia Lee. An eclectic mix of vibes perfect to top up those Friday feels!

The 4-band line-up will include energetic, maximum volume rock n rollers Lovejoy and highly infectious indie rockers Cova Castle. Plus, get ready for some shout-along choruses from the fabulous The LOAs and some hooking tunes by indie-styled Luke Porte. An absolute must for lovers of indie rock who are on the look out of their new favourite band, as all four acts have it in them to take it to the next level. Promoters Revival LIVE! are proud to present their first venture outside of Durham, this time alongside Pillar Artists, to bring us another solid line-up of new acts from far and wide – all with that important “favourite new band” potential. Taking over the fantastic Central Bar in Gateshead, things will kick off with performances from emo/punk three piece Foxcatcher before the multi-faceted folk punk band One Million Motors take things to the next level with their blend of folk, new wave & nostalgic 90s Rock plus a dash of Punk Rock thrown in for good measure. Even more hooking pop-punk awaits when four piece Your Graduation unleash their stomping sounds influenced by early 2000’s vibes and new wave pop punk that is sure to get the crowd going. Last but certainly not least, headliners Brutalligators from North Herts who are on a mission to get your heart beats racing thanks to their unique melodic rock that takes unexpected plunges into the heavy side for the sheer fun of it. A real corker of a night in a gem of a pub venue!

With their shimmering reverb-laden guitar melodies and haunting vocals, dream-pop outfit Headclouds are ready to provide a stunning night of entertaining at Jesmond’s brand new music venue Bobiks (The pub formerly known as the Punchbowl has had a complete overhaul from the owners of the Brandling Villa which is surely only a sign of good things ahead). The Newcastle five-piece have been somewhat quiet in recent months but we are more than ready to welcome them back onto the scene. Their incredible shimmering sound is guaranteed to give you those warming sunshine feels no matter the weather outside. Joining them are North Shields band Hector Gannet who’ve recently supported Sam Fender on a couple of UK dates and have steadily gained a reputation as a superb live band.
Why not head to the O2 Academy Newcastle to catch the heartfelt north-east singer-songwriter Anthony Vacher (More Info) , or if you’re over in Sunderland then head to Independent to catch an awesome trio of up and coming indie bands including Plastic Glass, The Tracies and The Tonalities (More Info).

Clippah / Thieves of Liverty / Plastic Glass

Still on a high from their triumphant victory of the Battle of the Bands at the Tavern Blyth, saw them take out a whole host of incredible north east bands in the running, Northumberland rockers Clippah are throwing this “Summer Scorcher” of a show at Newcastle’s Bridge Hotel. With powerful bluesy vocals and anthemic rock tunes that will have you grooving and rocking to your hearts content, these guys are absolutely worth catching live for a fiery night of live music and fun frolics. But that’s not all! Joining them are two equally brilliant north east bands: Thieves of Liberty with their modern take on classic rock plus infectiously energetic indie youngsters Plastic Glass. So grab your best Hawaiian shirt and come on down for this fantastic scorcher of a gig in the heart of Newcastle.

Liverpool's alternative metal band From Inside, who draw comparisons to Bring Me The Horizon and the early days of Linkin Park, are out on the road for their summer tour with Sheffield modern metal outfit Arkdown and will be making a very welcome stop at Newcastle’s prime rock bar Trillians. But that’s not where the heavy-rock bonanza ends as a whopping 4 metal acts are on the bill for support: Shadows Of Violence, Usurper, A Dying Reign and Collapse of Colour! An incredible night of some top-volume music and manic moshes – impossible to resist when entry is completely free! Don’t forget your earplugs folks!

Slowcrush / Swears / Into The Deep
Location: Surf Café - Tynemouth
After taking their compellingly abrasive shoegaze sound to crowds across the UK and the continent, Manchester’s versatile noise-pop outfit Slowcrush are coming to the intimate setting of the Surf Café Tynemouth. Layering grungy noise pop with soft floating vocals, the band creates an incredible feast for the senses you simply need to experience. Their 2018 album 'Aurora' is highly recommended listening to send your mind into a free fall and get you suitably hyped for this rare small-scale show. Top-notch local support comes from Teesside alt rockers Swears and the fantastic melodic-rockers Into The Deep from Newcastle so be sure to head down early for this one.

Dutch Elm / Palm Beach / ThreadBear / The Cities We Light

Highly captivating post-rock/post-metal band and instrumental soundscape creators Dutch Elm are celebrating the release of their debut EP, ‘In Hindsight’ with this glorious Saturday night gig. Having only burst onto the scene last year, the four-piece have left us mightily impressed with their complex and expertly crafted sound that effortlessly combines fiercely roaring riffs with beautifully blissful ambient melodies. These guys offer an experience that will leave you rocking out in wonder and we think you should not miss out on hearing their brand new EP live in full force on the evening of its release. A thrilling trio of support comes from lo-fi surf-rock Duo Palm Beach, emo/post-hardcore outfit ThreadBear and soothing post-rock band The Cities We Light.

Aussie punk rockers Press Club are returning to our shores after their previous incredibly powerful show at Think Tank Underground this summer. With a relentless energy and fiercely impressive vocals from frontwomen Natalie, the four piece's heavy rock sound is one that simply has to be experiences live, and where better for it than the Surf Café Tynemouth. The band are also billed on this year’s Reading and Leeds festival so don’t miss this chance to catch them in such an intimate venue. Support comes from Newcastle’s soulful rock and roll outfit Bare Roots who take 80’s and 90’s influences and blitz them up to create some thrilling guitar rock for some hip-shaking fun.

After their stomping performance at This Is Tomorrow festival in June, Sunderland four-piece rock outfit Hivemind are gearing up for their biggest headline show to date at the 02 Academy in Newcastle. The band are quickly making a name for themselves with their incredible hooking sound that packs some insane Muse-esque riffs as well as a blazing energy thanks to frontwoman Georgia; whose relentless stamina is matched by her incredible vocal power that will leave you in awe. With epic tunes like 'Knees & Toes' in their song arsenal, we expect this to be a fantastically lively show that will appeal to anyone. Support comes from equally rocking talent Scott Michael Cavagan, A Day In Helsinki and Thieves Of Liberty.

Here comes another gloriously sunshine-filled indie-rock show by the seaside for you courtesy of Pillar Artist. Making a more than welcome return to their hometown venue, the lush lads from Mayfare are set to have us dancing to their ever hooking indie choruses and infectious melodies that positively kicks up a gear in the rock-spectrum during their bubbly life performances. Joining them from further afield are superb art-rockers Tranqua Lite from Leeds who’ve been wowing crowds at festivals across the UK and combine sumptuous vocal melodies with upbeat rhythms to get your groove on to. Opening the night are local rockers Mosaic Sun who create feel-good alt-pop enriched with a sublimely soulful tones that will leave you swooning. A scorcher of a show to cherish those final summer days.
