Saturday 5th October

Still reeling from the release of their remarkable debut album ‘Reason To Dream’ in May, as well as a summer packed with festival performances, dreamy alt-pop trio WhenYoung return to Newcastle as part of their biggest UK tour to date. With soothing vocals, hooking guitar-laden melodies and a whole lot of captivating charm, the Dublin band never fail to put you under their spell and are quickly growing a loyal fan base.
Don’t miss them when they bring their rousing show full of skillfully crafted tunes like ‘Sleeper’, ‘Never Let Go’, ‘The Others’ and ‘Given Up’ to the intimate city centre venue this month. Expect a heartfelt and vibrant show with plenty of opportunity for glorious sing-alongs.

Majestic indie rockers Amber Run return with their sparkling new album ‘Philophobia’ freshly released last month. Beautiful and soul-searching, the band’s new material delves deep into the many aspects of love and relationships while keeping their melodies strikingly rhythmic and upbeat.
Reaching out to their fans new and old with a massive European and North America tour this Autumn, the Nottingham trio make a welcome stop at Newcastle’s fantastic Wylam Brewery.
But that’s not all as one of our favourite dreamy indie marvels Stereo Honey make a long awaited return to Newcastle too. The London four-piece have won over our hearts since the release of their debut EP ‘Monuments’ which even includes an utterly stunning anthem dedicated to one of the North East’s most iconic landmarks: ‘Angel’. With euphoric songs packed with layers of stunning guitar-driven melodies and delicate vocal tones these guys are an absolute must see.

Isle Of Wight’s Lauran Hibberd may look sweet and innocent, but her outspoken nature and dark sense of humour make her a bit of a wild child of the music scene which is perfectly reflected in her fresh and super engaging song-writing style. Hooking pop melodies meet frank and playful lyrics that are impossible to get out of your head, such as her singles 'Frankie’s Girlfriend' and 'Hoochie'. Both of which can be found on her brilliant debut EP 'Everything Is Dogs' just released last month.
Supporting her at this show are Newcastle’s equally quirky alt-indie whizzkids Fever Days making this for a rather exciting gig we must say!

Warming up for their Twisterella Festival in Middlesbrough appearance the next day, Dunfermline’s Dancing On Tables bring their vibrant and infectious indie pop sound to Newcastle at this gig hosted by mighty promoters The Kids Are Solid Gold. The young band from Scotland have been building up a great reputation for their dreamy melodies and lively performances so we are eager to catch this five-piece for ourselves this month. Joining them are to of the North East’s finest dark dazzling alt-pop creators Ghost//Signals and charismatic indie singer-songwriter Michael Gallagher.

Middlesbrough’s prime music festival showcasing the best of local and national emerging talent returns. With its inclusive atmosphere and expertly selected line-up of the hottest new acts, it’s a real highlight of our live music calendar that we’ve been eagerly awaiting all summer. With all five participating venues in close walking distance, and a schedule that is carefully staggered to reduce the ever frustrating clashes between acts, the festival offers a chance to see an incredible number of performances throughout the day.
Kicking things off on a high are Liverpudlian anthemic rockers Red Rum Club alongside plenty of the region’s favourites such as Mt Misery, Heelturn, Fever Days, Callum Pitt, Michael Gallagher, Martha Hill, Roxy Girls, Ghost Signals, Plastic Mermaids and Talk Like Tigers.
And representing the rest of the UK are a plethora of fresh new acts that are not to be missed such as Peaness, Far Caspian, Dancing on Tables, The Vegan Leather, Swimming Girls and Tranqua Lite, Lucia. Meanwhile, headliner choices include Vistas, Dylan Cartlidge, Saint Agnes, Bloxx and Pearl Hearts which will leave many of us dithering on who to close the day with. The only thing that’s certain is that you simply should not miss this incredible day of live music!
